HUBUNGAN STATUS GIZI DENGAN KEJADIANPNEUMONIA PADA ANAK BALITA DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS RANTAU PANJANG TAHUN 2021

Abstract

Background: According to WHO in 2019, Five countries were responsible for more than half of
child deaths from pneumonia in the world, namely Nigeria (162,000), India (127,000), Pakistan
(58,000), Democratic Republic of the Congo (40,000), and Ethiopia (32,000). In 2018, an
estimated 19,000 children died from pneumonia. Global estimates show that one hour there are
71 children in Indonesia who are infected with pneumonia (WHO, 2019). Pneumonia is the
number one cause of death for children under five in the world. Likewise in Merangin district,
the number of pneumonia sufferers in children under five is 4,078. Based on data from the
Rantau Panjang Health Center, the number of children under five is 1,876 people. The incidence
of pneumonia in children underfive is 29 people. The purpose of this study was to determine the
factors associated with the incidence of pneumonia in children under five in the Rantau Panjang
Public Health Center in 2021. Research Methods: This type of research is a quantitative
analytic survey with a cross sectional design. The study was conducted in the working area of the
Rantau Panjang Health Center in 2021. The population in this study were mothers who had
children under five in the working areaof the Rantau Panjang Health Center as many as 1,876
children under five. The sample was obtained using the Simple Random Sampling method as
many as 95 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires, observation sheets,
anthropometry and KMS/KIA books. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate. Research
Results: The results show that there is a significant relationship between the variables
Nutritional Status with the incidence of pneumonia in children under five. Conclusion:
Nutritional status are risk factors for pneumonia in children under five in the working area of the
Rantau Panjang Public Health Center in 2021.
