GAMBARAN PENGETAHUAN IBU TENTANG PEMBERIAN VITAMIN A PADA ANAK BALITA DI DESA MUDO WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS PEMATANG KANDIS TAHUN 2021

Abstract

Background: Vitamin A was the first fat-soluble vitamin to be discovered. The present invention represents all retinoids and their precursors/provitamin A/carotenoids having biological activity as retinol. Vitamin A plays an important role in the growth and development of children. Vitamin A deficiency (VAC) increases the risk of developing infectious diseases such as diarrhea, pneumonia, pneumonia and even death. Another most serious consequence of vitamin A deficiency (VAD) is night blindness, which is another form of xeropthalmia such as corneal damage and blindness (Almatsier, 2009). Purpose of the study: To describe the mother's knowledge about giving vitamin A to children under five in Mudo Village in the working area of ​​Pematang Kandis Public Health Center in 2021. Research Methods: This research is a descriptive study with interview data collection methods where the object of the research is question and answer to measure the mother's knowledge. Research Results: The results showed that of the 52 respondents studied, there were 4 (7.7%) respondents who had good knowledge, 11 (21.2%) sufficient knowledge and 37 (71.1%) less knowledge. respondents. Conclusion : The majority of mothers under five have less knowledge as many as 37 (71.1%) respondents, sufficient knowledge as much as 11 (21.2%) and knowledge. good 4 (7.7%).
