Abstract

Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) is one indicator of the degree of public health in the national health sustem, the higher the maternal mortality rate indicates the degree of poor health and has not succeeded in increasing the highest degree of health. The death toll is 289,000 deaths in the world while in Indonesia 228 / 100,000 live birth. One of the factors that led to high maternal and infant mortality was the ability and skills of childbirth assistants, quite a number of workers were 76.95% and non-health workers were 23.05%, this indicates that it had not reached the national target of 90%. Whereas in Jambi Province it is 93.49%, Merangin coverage of childbirth is assisted by health workers in 2018 which is 44.3% while non-health workers are 2.2%. Whereas the highest number of deliveries assisted by non-health workers was 20.0% with the lowest number of assistants being 36.9%, namely Muara Jernih Health Center from 27 Puskesmas in the Merangin Health Office Working Area.The results showed that there was a relationship between family support and the role of officers with the selection of labor assistants. Family support as well as the role of officers in relation to the selection of labor assistants, with the results of this study, are expected to increase the delivery of clean and safe delivery provided by health workers through a family approach.
