Background: Child growth and development are very important and play a significant
role in improving health. The nutritional growth status of toddlers, whether appropriate for their
age or not, can be identified through the Growth Monitoring Card (Kartu Menuju Sehat/KMS).
Meanwhile, child development can be assessed using the Pre-Screening Developmental
Questionnaire (KPSP).. One of the common problems occurring during the period of child
growth and development is developmental delay. One of the factors that can influence the
process of child growth and development is the family, especially the mother. Maternal
knowledge and attitudes play an important role in monitoring the growth and development of
toddlers. Child growth and development will be appropriate for their age if the mother’s
knowledge and attitudes are good, indicating a relationship between maternal knowledge and
attitudes and the growth and development of children aged 0–6 years. Based on the Health Data
of Limbur Tembesi Public Health Center (2021), the number of visits by mothers with toddlers
to the Posyandu to monitor child growth and development had not reached 100%, accounting
for only 81%. Data on toddler visits to Posyandu Mekarsari also did not meet the target,
reaching only 55%. This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge
and attitudes and the growth and development of toddlers at Posyandu Mekarsari, Teluk
Kecimbung Village, the working area of Limbur Tembesi Public Health Center, in 2023.
Research Method: This type of research uses a correlational analytical survey with a
cross sectional study approach. The research was conducted at Mekarsari Posyandu, Teluk
Kecimbung Village, Limbur Tembesi Health Center Working Area in 2023. The population in
this study was 151 respondents. The sample in this study used a purposive sampling technique
using inclusion and exclusion criteria. data was collected using a questionnaire. Univariate and
bivariate analysis of data using the Chi-Square test at the 95% confidence level (P<0.05).
Results: The results of the Chi-Square test analysis calculation show that the
significant p value is 0.000. Because the p value is smaller than 0.05 (0.000<0.05), Ha is
accepted so that in this study there is a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and
attitudes and the growth and development of toddlers in Teluk Kecimbung Village, Limbur
Tembesi Health Center Working Area in 2023.
Conclusion: It is important to carry out counseling, health promotion and health
education, especially regarding the growth and development of toddlers, especially for mothers
who have toddlers so that these mothers can increase their knowledge and can detect early
growth and development abnormalities in toddlers.
