Abstract

Diarrhea is an environment based diseas. Diarrhea is closely related to water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH) problems. (WHO, 2018). Diarrhea is one of the main diseases in infants and children in Indonesia, especially in toddlers. In 2019, the prevalence of cases of diarrhea in children under five reached 40% of the total number of children under five in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the relationship between water quality, sanitation conditions, with the incidence of diarrhea in children under five in RT. 20 Pamenang Subdistricts. The type of research used is quantitative with an analytical observational approach using a cross sectional study design. The population in this study were all toddlers aged 12-59 months and domiciled in RT. 20 Pamenang Subdistricts as many as 35 people. The sampling technique used is proportional random sampling. Data were analyzed using SPSS application univariately and bivariately with chi-square test. The results of this study indicate that 26 people (74,3%) suffer from diarrhea in one month ago and don’t suffer from diarrhea as many as 9 people (25,7%).

The results of statistical tests showed that the physical quality of clean water (P-value = 0,022), and latrine conditions (P-value = 0,041) has significantly associated with the incidence of diarrhea in children under five.
